Livingstone Magistrate Schedules Judgment in ‘Why Me’ Hate Speech Trial

Judgment has been set for February 7th, this year, in a case where Francis Kapwepwe, commonly known as ‘Why Me,’ is accused of expressing hatred for persons because of tribe and for hate speech.
Livingstone Magistrate Thabita Muleya has further set Thursday, January 16, 2025, for the defence to file its submissions, while the state is set to file its submission by January 29, 2025.
The defence has concluded its evidence in chief, where it had only one witness, who is also the accused.
In his defence, Kapwepwe says he doesn’t own any Facebook account by the name of “Why Me, the Lion of the World.”
Kapwepwe, who is being represented by Anthony Bwalya and Elisha Lwanga of KBF and Partners, says the evidence given by state witnesses is all fabricated.
However, during cross-examination by State Prosecutor Mabia Akamonwa, Kapwepwe agreed that he was the one appearing in the said videos but claimed that he did not produce the said words.
