Zambia Records First Mpox-Related Death

An eight-month-old Mpox patient has died at Chipata level one hospital in Lusaka.

 

Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA says the infant is the first Mpox related death in the country.

 

Dr. MUCHIMA says a comprehensive mortality review meeting to ascertain the cause of death was concluded to be complicated pneumonia in the Mpox patient.

 

He says the country has recorded SEVEN Mpox cases in the last ONE week.

 

And the Minister told Journalists at a media briefing in Lusaka today that Zambia has not recorded any case of Ebola.

 

Dr. MUCHIMA dispelled the rumour that a case of Ebola has been recorded in Chavuma District.

 

He also said the Country has not recorded any Cholera cases in the last 24 hours.

 

Dr. MUCHIMA said the Ministry of Health has received authorisation to start Oral Cholera vaccinations in Lusaka’s cholera hot spots.
